Markov Bargaining Games
نویسنده
چکیده
I consider an alternating offer bargaining game which is played by a risk neutral buyer and seller, where the value of the good to be traded follows a Markov process. For these games the existence of a perfect equilibrium is proved and the set of equilibrium payoffs and strategies are characterised. The main results are: (a) If the buyer is less patient than the seller, then there will be delays in the players reaching an agreement, the buyer is forced into a suboptimal consumption policy and the equilibrium is ex-ante inefficient. (b) If the buyer is more patient than the seller, then there is a unique and efficient equilibrium where agreement is immediate. JEL Classification : 026

Transfer of Bargaining Power Sources in Oil Trade Games
Bargaining Power is one of the important issues in oil trade negotiations. In this paper two effective factors in bargaining power i.e. patient time to deal and outside options of each player have been considered. The necessary relations for exchange of sources in negotiation have been derived.
متن کاملNoncooperative foundations of stable sets in voting games
This note investigates the noncooperative foundations of von Neumann-Morgenstern (vN-M) stable sets in voting games. To do so, we study subgame perfect equilibria of a noncooperative legislative bargaining game, based on underlying simple games. The following results emerge from such an exercise: Every stable set of the underlying simple game is the limit set of undominated pure-strategy Markov...
متن کاملCoalition Bargaining Games: Local and Global Uniqueness of Equilibria
This paper studies generic properties of Markov Perfect equilibrium of coalitional bargaining games. We show that in almost all games (except in a set of measure zero of the parameter space) the equilibrium is locally unique and stable, and comparative statics analysis are welldefined and can be performed using standard calculus tools. Global uniqueness does not hold in general, but the number ...
متن کاملMarkov equilibria in dynamic matching and bargaining games
Rubinstein and Wolinsky (1990) show that a simple homogeneous market with exogenous matching has a continuum of (non-competitive) perfect equilibria; however, the unique Markov perfect equilibrium is competitive. By contrast, in the more general case of heterogeneous markets, we show there exists a continuum of (non-competitive) Markov perfect equilibria. However, a refinement of the Markov pro...
متن کاملA Foundation for Markov Equilibria in Infinite Horizon Perfect Information Games
We study perfect information games with an infinite horizon played by an arbitrary number of players. This class of games includes infinitely repeated perfect information games, repeated games with asynchronous moves, games with long and short run players, games with overlapping generations of players, and canonical non-cooperative models of bargaining. We consider two restrictions on equilibri...
